Overview

A "SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION RESEARCH GROUP" (STRG) was established at the University of Alberta in 1996 and this was formalized into an official Group of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in 2000. The objectives of this Group are to promote excellence in research and research training in the area of Signal Transduction. The Group consists of 16 full-time members of Faculty and their research teams. Each Faculty member belongs to one of the Academic Departments of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

The interdisciplinary structure of the STRG provides it with diverse expertise and access to a wide variety of intellectual and physical resources. The Group members are located mainly in adjacent buildings in the Medical Sciences Building, the Heritage Medical Research Centre, the Clinical Research Building, the Katz Building. Some members of the Department of Oncology are housed in the Cross Cancer Institute.
